i would suggest just waiting untill you get the dyno access, because every car is different, and you could actually be making your car run worse if you set it at the wrong degree................

Yeah, I'd wait until the dyno. You only need a few runs to find out the best setting because we only have 1 adjustable gear.

I'm pretty sure I read something that anything past 6 degrees retarded will mess up your valves.

Some of us run with the cam set to 4 others set to 6... We've seen up to 10bhp at the flywheel from this mod. I think the safe level is 8 degrees either way but I wouldn't push it more than 6

i was wondering why only 1 cam gear. what side does it work for the exhaust or intake. thats weird! other cars have two cam gears.

the svt uses a variable cam timing system on the intake camshaft. the pulley is integral to this system. only the exhaust shaft has a fixed cam gear, which you replace with the adjustable. you can eliminate the VCT with turbo tom's VCT eliminator, and then put an adjustable gear on the intake shaft, but you really don't need to bother with that unless your VCT isn't working quite right.

as a side note...many DOHC cars use only one cam gear. most toyota's use one belt driven gear on one shaft, and then drive the second shaft off of a gear that is machined into the first camshaft.
