Custom Exhaust ???

Just got my svt, and the exhaust is nasty !! sounds very loud and raspy ! Had a guy at the muffler shop take a look at it, and I was surprised to hear him say " you got no muffler, just straight pipe with a tip at th end". They sound is killing me !! Ive been reading around and seems like Magnaflow and Borla are the top two contenders for svt exhaust. The local shop said he could put me a magnaflow muffler, then run pipe ( 2.5") into a dulal set up for about $189 installed. Im lovin that price, but am I going to reap the same benifits from a magnaflow or borla set up ???

**side note-- the magnaflow muffler he suggested was for a camaro. He said he didnt have a focus muffler with 2 exits to run dual exhaust. You guys think this will cause more harm than good?? ***before the flaming begins, keep in mind that I dont know much about exhaust. Thats why I'm asking you guys *** THANKS

whats up man, Congrats on your svt focus, but as for the daul exhaust, you dont have enough room in the rear valince were the exhaust cut-out is to run dauls unless there really small and you dont have a cut-out at the other end of the valince to put the other tip, the single tip looks best anyways on these cars, i have a apexi N1 exhaust wich is an 4.5 inch tip and its a canister style coming up and out at an angle like and hks style looks really sweet plus im running straight pipe and man its not really loud at all and its super deep, the deepest focus ive ever heard, but good luck and just look alot in the gallary at pics of svt's to get some ideas, if you look at Frostbit_v6 pics thats exactly how my exhaust looks. good luck man

While duals won't gain you any power, there are some very nice looking setups on a few Foci.
Check the following threads:
dual exhaust on svt focus??
dual exhaust?
Most are what you're talking about. Single inlet, dual outlet.

Otherwise, check out the SVT Performance forums for other exhaust posts.
There's lots of examples/opinions of different manufacturers, and even some sound clips.

Last but not least;
Personally, I would never run a fart can on a fOCUS.
It just doesn't look right on our cars.
We have such a clean rear valance, why muck it up with a huge can back there?
^^^again, this is my personal opinion^^^

Poney has an Evo body kit. (I believe) On those kits, a dual set-up is pretty sweet. With the SVT, changing the exhaust does nothing except change how it sounds.

i have to agree with daredevil the dual tips can look very good as long as the tip isnt too big, i dont know that much about mufflers but i think it would be better to use the focus muffler with use a "y"connector to acheve the dual tip set up

If you have money for the borla, I would go with that...

borla or hypnotic illusions' full exhaust system, which is sold with the random technologies hi flow cat. i think its like 575 bucks, but i think the borla is around 450(?don't know, didn't buy mine), so for only a little more you get a hiflo cat and from what i hear, a very performance driven, warrantied exhaust system. borla sounds sweet. check out :

okay, so i'm delerious.... after actually looking at the page myself, the exhaust was made by r/t. it does not, from what i understand, include the infamous hiflo cat... sorry. my bad. wayne says .3 seconds off the 1/4 mile with his exhaust though. you are NOT gonna get that from a borla cat back alone. anyone have this setup? give us some feed back huh?

oh yeah, and with the nice body setup you have on your car, i could see duals looking very nice! why not give it a try and have that much more of a unique car? it is YOUR car, remember. its always nice to get other peoples opinions, but in the end, the only persons that matters is yours bro. have some fun, and make some fricken noise while you're doin it!!!

I love the look of duals on the SVT - wish it would have came that way.

Thing to remember with the custom bent exhaust is to make sure it's mandrel bent pipe! If it isn't mandrel bent, you will be taking a step backward in performance!

The RT exhaust (aka - HIA exhaust) does NOT include the high flow cat! If it did, that'd be a steal! I'd be a little leary on the .3 reduction on quarter mile time also. None of the other manufacturers get much of a gain on an SVT - What makes the RT exhaust different?

No kidding, if it came with the hi-flow cat I would be all over it!!! lol .... Also, I have to wonder myself how hypnotics cat-back can drop ET's by .3, ...... I'm from Missouri, show me LOL ,,, j/k, I am from Corpus Christi LOL

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I like Wayne and bought product from him but I just don't understand how that cat-back can help that much when others can't.
