Help- new noise

My '02 SVTf has been simply marvelous since the computer re-flash four months ago. Cured all the engine problems that had existed since I got the car. Now a peculiar new noise has materialized. It's a squeal/screech type of noise that is now present at start up, louder when the engine is cold. It is particularly loud when the clutch is being engaged in first gear. No noise when the pedal is depressed, only during engagement. As the RPMs rise, it goes away. Shifts to second gear and above cause barely percepable occurance of the noise and when the car has been driven a while, the noise is slightly less. When it first started happening, I thought it was belt squeal, but if the car is revved in neutral, it does not happen. It's definately related to clutch engagement, but the pedal and clutch action feel smooth and normal. Car runs great, but the Squealing is Embarassing. I feel as if I'm driving an 80's clunker with worn out power steering pump. I have a service appointment next Wednesday to check it out and replace the horn which gave out sometime ago.
Anyboby have anything similar as a symtom?

If you think it sounds like a serious problem, you need to turn your car in. Having One is better than Having None!

I doesn't seem like the throw out bearing to me. I've had throw out bearings go, and they always make some sound or transmit some roughness back through the clutch pedal whenever it is depressed. This noise does not occur if you simply depress the clutch pedal, only when it is being engaged. The sound is not really mechanical in nature. As I said, I first assumed it was belt squeal, but it it so closely associated with the clutch engagement, I'm inclined to think it is either in the drivetrain, or coincident with the particular vibration or loading that occurs when the clutch is being engaged in first gear. I wouldn't be surprised to learn it is a vibrating heat shield (a problem some have noted in this forum, although I don't recall the type of noise that causes) or something like a water pump starting to fail. In my experience, a failing water pump can produce a wide range of sounds that can be very misleading.
Well, it's going in for service Wednesday, and we'll see if it turns out to be mysterious or easily diagnosed.
I also seem to remember reading that SVTfs have a TSB for the horn failure that involves a relocation of the horn during replacement. Is this true, or just a mis-memory of mine?
Thanks for the help and great response. Forums like this add a great deal to the pleasure of ownership for us all.

A squeal when engaging only... I hope it isn't the rivets in the clutch disc grinding against the flywheel. I've heard of this happening when the clutch disc gets thin. How many miles on your car?
