HOW To: Clutch Install???

Hey everyone. i was wondering if there was anyone that knew of a clutch install How to or DIY instructions. Can I follor the Haynes manual, as it is NOT for a SVT??? I am doing it at a friends shop and knows EVERYTHING about v8s and what to do we have a lift, and every tool imaginable. Is it just the fact of removeing the half shafts, and unbolting the tranny to pull the clutch and flywheel? We have an engine cradle to support the tranny while we unbolt it. Lemme know if there is anyone i should talk to, or what i need to buy as far as manual. I cannot find a FACTORY Service manual for the SVT Focus.

I'm not gonna touch this one, but IMO there's a reason why there are tranny shops. You wouldn't want something go wrong with the install and have to go through the process again (costing you money).

I am going to do mine once it cools down here. If you have a good garage and all the tools, it shouldn't be too bad. Sure there are tranny shops out there, but you don't need a PhD to work there. If some grease monkey can handle it, I am confident I can tackle it.

Yea, thats what i was thinking. I know the guys at the ford dealership here didnt know what the hell they were doing, and it took them a DAY to get the damn starter back in so they are a bunch of morons.

You think because it took them a day to get the starter in that they are morons? I don't hear you saying that you replaced the starter? Well maybe it was warranty though?


Either way, replacing the clutch is not something you want to do on your own. That is why there are dealerships and tranny shops. It requires special tools, knowledge, and a lift if very, very helpful when it comes to putting the tranny back it.

It took me and 4 other guys to stab the transmission back into an SVT one time. FIVE GUYS! and you want to do it on jack stands in your garage?! I say one time because not many SVT focus' are around in Mobile.

Yea, thanks though. Yes, Warranty issue. They reversed the battery cables and screwed up the battery and starter. ANyways I already got the clutch done. Did it in a friends garage on his lift. Thanks though. Engine cradles that having jacking capabilities are nice when u have heavy things!!
