Exclamation heated seats answers

ok, so a lot of people without heated seats have been wanting some ass warmers for their car...so here's the skinny on that...

ALL svtf's with or without heated seats have the wiring for it. this is because it's more cost effective for ford to create one wiring harness for the vehicle instead of making a bunch of different harnesses for each different option. you CAN buy the heating pads separate from the cusions...part numbers to follow. it is very SIMPLE to add heated seats to your car, and depending on how cold it gets in your area...the cost isn't too terribly high that you can't justify it. I've got the part numbers you'll need and the prices from ford's parts database, and I'm actually going to install heat pads into my drivers seat for now...might do passenger's seat in the future.

you need 2 (TWO) heating pads PER SEAT and 1 (ONE) switch per seat. part numbers are as follows: (prices may vary from dealer to dealer, this is what my shop's computer came up with)

Heat Pad
2M5Z-58632B22-AA
Price $60.49

Driver's side heated seat switch
98AZ-14D694-BA
Price $34.23

Passenger's side heated seat switch
3S4Z-14D694-AA
Price $48.28

if you want the center console to make it all look factory, there are TWO part numbers based on the build date of your car. part numbers as follows

Center console (build date BEFORE 6/1/2003)
3M5Z-54045A36-AAA
Price $220.50

Center console (build date AFTER 6/1/2003)
3M5Z-54045A36-AAC
Price $220.50

remember, you need TWO pads and ONE switch per seat, and the center console if you want to mount the switches and make it look factory. the totals are as follows...

Total driver's side parts (excluding console)
$155.21

Total passenger's side parts (excluding console)
$169.21

Both sides parts WITH console
$544.97 plus your state's sales tax

the labor is pretty easy to do, and as I said, I'll be installing driver's side heat pads sometime soon, so I'll try to write up a How To for it with pictures.

Hope this helps...and happy ass warming!

For that price you could just find some used svt heated seats, and then find a salvage yard with the console with the buttons.

I am glade my car came with the cold weather, hitting the button is so nice!

since you did all that research, how bout a how-to for installing them, do they need a fuse somewhere or is there already one for it, where is that fuse, etc. that would be awesome.

Here's what mommy should have told you to do when you downshift:
1. Step on the clutch
2. Simultaneously slide the shifter into a lower gear and give the throttle a quick, amazingly precise jab to rev the engine to exactly the rpm it needs to be at in the next gear
3. Quickly let out the clutch

Oh sure, It takes a few thousand tries before you get the timing and precision of your jab just right, but the reward is that you no longer suck.

some of the newer cars, like the expeditions and the freestars actually do have cooled seats

the how to will be coming along as soon as I buy the parts for my drivers seat. I hardly ever have anyone in my car, so I'm not gonna bother doing the passenger seat...at least, not until my girlfriend starts complaining...

oh yeah, the prices I listed are the retail prices...what the average joe walking up to the parts counter would pay...if you have a parts hookup or you work at a ford dealership, you'll save almost $300

you ought to be able to look up the correct fuse in your owner's manual. the fuse is probably there from the factory, but if it's not, I think it's a 15 amp mini fuse, and the manual should tell you where it goes

Thanks crazymechanic.
I appreciate all the research.

I'd add that the heated seat console will have an extra provision/cutout for the TC switch.
That'll have to be covered up, or put something else in it's place.
