Question about Cam Gear install tool (Vendors please read)

I purchased a cam gear from a member a while ago and it didn't come with the install tool.

I ordered the install tool April 30th from Street Beat Customs. I sent them an e-mail on May 13th wondering where it is. I got a reply on May 13th saying it's a special order item and that it'll take 10-14 working days.

Well, it's been 20 working days and no install tool. I'm going to e-mail them again, but what I want to know is how long it should take for me to get it. I'm wondering what is taking so long, and (if any non-vendors are reading this) how long it took to get your install tool.

This is really bugging me because I'd like to get it installed! Would I need the tool if I had a mechanic install it? I'm seriously thinking of cancelling my order if the mechanic would have one.

*end rant*

the proper procedue for installing a cam gear requires the install tool, otherwise when your cam gear says 0 degrees, you won't necessarily be at 0 degrees. even a mechanic is going to need that tool

Did you order the crank pin as well as the cam bar? You'll need both unless you have a degree wheel and make/have a piston stop...

you don't really need the crank pin, but it does make things a little easier

Like I said, you need both unless you have a degree wheel and a piston stop. You can use the screw driver method, but for $10, buy the tool and get a piece of mind.

CFM has them in stock, as well as FC. I have a couple of cam bars here, I can send you one Tim, if you would like.

Tom had a good solution. A file is the perfect width/thickness/length...
