Gas Prices and MPG

Well since us SVT owners ( it feels good to say that lol ) Have to use 91 + octane gas it kinda expencive concidering the gas prices lol...

My question is if we got poor for a second could we run 89

and is it ok to drive 45 in 6th gear, i think thats why my car goes through gas casue i cant tell how far i got the gas pedal down lol

There's been a lot of discussion on this very topic.
I'll get back to you with some links in a moment.
EDIT:
Here's a few...by searching for "lower AND octane".
Gasoline Grade Question
fuel octane
Has anyone ran a tank of 87 octane?

My opinion...
I would not run lower than 91 octane, unless it were an emergency,
and only lower octane rating grades were available.

45mph in 6th is a bit low in the rev range.
5th at that speed would probably be better not only for the engine, but gas mileage as well.
By "lugging" the engine and running too tall of gear for the speed,
the engine isn't far enough up in the power band to run very effeciently.

It is not recommend you run lower octane, but you can, just dont do it all the time. Ill personally pay the extra $3 per fill-up than risk paying $3,000 for engine repair. I am usually in 6th by 45 mph while skip shifting: 1-3-4-6. I get pretty good MPG in the city doing this, usually around 27 - 30. Of course the urge hits me to nail 1st, 2nd, and 3rd to redline while accelerating, but not too often. =)

Plus you would only save about $1.10 per tank by using 89.
