Traction Control?!?! IS it really OFF?

Traction control is a questionable topic for me. My '02 sonic blue SVT has it and when i quot on quote "turn it off" is it really off? And if its engaged then why can i still spin. I know this has been discussed but i recently went to the tracks and am going again soon i ran a 15.80 at 91.09mph and i was wondering i got the same basic time with it off as i did with it on. Should i pull the fuse or would this not help?!?! SOMEONE please help me to get a better time with this POS...well its not a POS but it is when it comes to dragging because my car seems to BOG out and lose power at first wen i gear slam!

The TC is still on up until 25 mph. You can remedy this with a simple $10 kill switch, or spend $300-$500 and get a tune which will disable the TC appropriately when it is switch off, not to mention make you car run like a friggin stallion.

Yes, but seeing how not all cars came with abs in the late and early 90's I think you can live with out it for the 30 sec's that you would have it disabled. You should only disable it when you launch, don't have it disabled all day.

now you guys are sayin a switch as in where would i locate it near the button under the steering column or under the hood...it may be just as easy for me to pull the fuse for the 30 sec that i run and put it back in my only other ? is will that continuous plugging in and unplugging the fuse which in return basically resets my abs have any affect on my abs or traction control over time...because it is useful in some cases but also could someone tell me what it does do...in the snow when its on i still spin and even on dry pavement i spin so wats the purpose of it????

thanks...unfortunatel i currently have a switch installed in that EXACT location for my interior LED's all 11 of them...i think i can just live with pulling the fuse but does anyone have any other suggestions on where to locat the switch. I understand the concept just that fuse panel cover is rigid on the opposite side and could pose a threat to how the switch would be mounted.

Put it under it? There's plenty of room on that panel to put more then 1 switch.

That is true but if you have ever looked at the reverse side there is plastic spines and the codes for which fuse is which...So i do not want to cut a whole in it...what about the side of the stearing wheel column does neone kno if that would be hard?
