Tranny ??

On TSB 04-21-19, it calls out 2M5Z-7002-BD Transaxle. What is that?? A different bell housing for the clutch and gears. My dealer says that it is a different trans than what came with the car and would cost me like $3k to get the updated TSB parts. Any ideas??
Thanks

I think they are blowing smoke up your skirt. Best estimate I've seen is around 900 installed for the TSB. Then again, if you are under warrenty, it's free

That is what I said, but the clutch is considered a wearable item. I don't want to go aftermarket just yet, I have the 5 yr/100k mile drivetrain warranty and I think the different flywheel will void it.

They only void the warranty on the repair cost if the aftermarket item was the direct cause of the problem.

The clutch is a wearable item, but premature wear as well as a flywheel/throwout bearing going bad is a problem due to manufacture of the flywheel. They replace the clutch because the old clutch won't match the new flywheel, and they replace the bearing and slave cylinder because the bearing is probably on its way to going out and you just change the slave cylinder when you pull the tranny.

An aftermarket flywheel/clutch in conjunction with changing the bearing/cylinder will actually be better for your car

But does the tsb require a different tranny, it calls for 2M5Z-7002-BD Transaxle. What is the part number for the transaxle that came with the car from the factory?? Are the two different or the same part??

I think they are the same parts as nothing is mentioned about the transaxle being different in the TSB. I've heard of some that got an all new transmission out of it (WD40?). Majority just get the stuff in the TSB specifically.

The exact TSB is in a sticky in the SVT Owners Lounge.

AFAIK, there's no "new" Getrag tranny for the SVTF.
Now, the part number itself may have changed for whatever reason,
but the transaxle should be no different.

I wouldn't doubt, the Dealer was looking at the part number for the MTX-75 (5spd),
when they said it's different.

The only reason they will replace the transaxle is if the input shaft showes excisive wear on the splines. When the flywheel gets loose (the two halfs of the dual mass flywheel don't stay concentric with each other) it wears the clutch hub and input shaft. That is also why the throw out bearings are going bad also.

When you go to the dealer don't say anything about clutch wear/slipping just complain about noise at idle when warm in neutral and clutch engaged. Read the TSB and understand what symptoms they are looking for and don't add anything to the complaint that sounds anything like a wear issue.

That is what I thought, I am going to call svt and just ask them to double check.
It wouldn't surprise me if they were looking at the wrong part number.
