Best Short Ram

So I am planning on going on a short ram set up. Here in my area, we get heavy rains on occasion and since this is my daily driver, I do not like taking the chance that I will hydrolock since I will be forced to traverse through heavy rains on some work days. I am looking at the following short rams.

Steeda Short Ram
AEM Short Ram
K&N Aircharger
K&N Typhoon (I believe the difference is metal tubing vs. plastic)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am also more interested in hearing reviews from people who have run these on their SVT. After my warranty is up, I am planning on running the Predator Tune from Tom so I would appreciate and before tune/after tune input in accordance with the short ram.

If it won't really help anything to have the Short Ram After the Tune I would also like to know because in that case, I'll just continue running the K&N Drop In on my stock system.

Thanks.

I am currently running the K&N aircharger, it works great for me. Unfortunatly I can't help you anymore though because I have never tried the others. But short rams will probably give you close to the same gain. You can look up advantages of each online.

Hey, I just snagged the K&N Typhoon and it's great! It was cheaper than the AirCharger, and it looks better as well. Pretty much any Short Ram will give you the same results, you just need to choose the one that best fits your wallet as well as your ego...

I was debating between the AirCharger, FS CoolFlo, and the Typhoon...I went with the Typhoon because of the Name backing it, it looks awesome in my engine bay, and it wasn't too harsh on the wallet ($170 with free shipping).

I felt more of a gain than I thought I would, and it sounds so sweet at WOT and normal shifting.

Good Luck to you!

I like my focussport cool-flow (it's the only short ram I know of with a heat sheild for the SVT).......search "SVT Short ram", "SVT short ram intake", etc.......in the "SVT Performance" section and you should find a couple thread about this topic already..........

I like my AEM SRI, even though I will be buying a AEM CAI soon.

i believe the aircharger is a different part than the intake - i think it's a fuel injection kit

that was my understanding from the previous post i made about the difference between the two

Go with the steeda, its a little more expensive but I love the way it looks and sounds. You can see a pic of it on my 03 svt in my photo gallery.

I've used all AEM products on my car..the shorty and the cold air. Both I love very much.

It's simply a short ram intake made out of plastic tubing. The Aircharger for the SVT will work fine and would be my choice if I were to buy another shorty. Currently I run the Typhoon and as with every K&N intake I've used it performs awesome. I'm thinking about getting an AEM CAI or talking with K&N to see if they can get the Aircharger version out in a CAI. Outside of that I love the way that the Steeda SRI's sound probably the best.
