Angry Dealer Mechanics are morons. What to do?

I think the motto of the dealer I have been going to is: "Why do it right the 1st time when we can have him bring it back 2 or 3 times to work on it some more."

I would have stopped going to this place long ago, but I was stuck on some things bc they were the 1st to "work" on some of the problems. Here's the list:

- In for a stuck throttle 3 times!!
- In for clutch problems twice! The second time they had to pull the tranny twice for a noise they couldn't get to go away. So reassuring!!
- Twice for a valve cover gasket leak. The 1st time they "fixed" it, it leaked worse!
- Instrument cluster 3 times!! The 1st time they scratched the sh!t out of the cluster lens, the second they broke the lens in half, and the 3rd to replace the whole assembly!!
- Shifter squeak twice! Could anything be more simple??? They F'd that one up too! They hosed the inside of my car down w/ lube!!
- They had to pull 2 wheels off to do the tranny and they pulled one off the back to check for a noise. They gouged every wheel down to the bare aluminum w/ scratches over an inch long!! My wheels were perfect till they touched them. I know bc I waxed them before they went in!!!

Not done yet. It gets worse!

My car is now out of the 3/36 warrantee. A few weeks ago, I was doing an oil change. When I got the car back from the tranny work, they left most of the wires and hoses out of the looms bc they were too lazy to put them back. I put most back myself. I was looking around under the car and noticed that something didn't look right. They didn't put the power steering line that raps around the tranny back in the loom and now it was laying on top of my inner CV burning a hole through the hose!!!!!!!!!!!

I was ready to go postal! I took the car in and asked to speak to the service manager. I was cool and polite, but demanded the hose replaced and the car thoroughly gone over to see if anything else was missed. He agreed free of charge. While they were at it I asked him to fix the valve cover leak for the 2nd time.

I got the car back Wednesday. I went out into the lot to hopefully leave and never come back. I decided to pop the hood to see if they had F'd anything else up. Sure enough the jack-ass had routed the throttle cable between the valve cover and the new power steering line wedging it in a not so good position. I disconnected it myself and rerouted it.

Finally the straw that has broke my back, patients and sanity. Tonight my power steering totally crapped out!!! DEAD!

Aside from beating the entire service department w/ a rubber hose, what can I do?? This is total horse SH!T and someone's head needs to role. Who should I contact? The ford rep? How do I reach them? Do I call SVT?

Please help me before I am committed to a padded room!

Wow... I can empathize. My local SVT dealer has been pretty bad at being able to fix anything without it taking about 2-3 visits. And someone who works there stole my iPod out of the car while it was there overnight, and it looks like they tried to take my shift knob and gave up when they realized it wouldn't come off without a fight.

But yours is much, much worse... I would complain to the HIGHEST level you can get ahold of. That stuff you put up with is nonsense.

The irony is that they brag on their dealer phone system (listen to it when on hold) that they are blue oval certified. My white ass!! [bootyshak Are you kidding!

They are only SVTF dealers not the full line. If I have it my way they will have to do some SERIOUS hoop jumping for Ford to let them do the full SVT line... if it ever comes back.

I guess I will ask to speak to the Ford rep and maybe I wil consult SVT.?

I've had my problems but here is the funniest, $145 (2 hours labor) to replace my broken antenna mast. I laughed at them at told them they were stupid. I went home, droped the dome light, undid two bolts/screws and had it done in 5min. You have to watch every thing they do and half the time tell them how to do it.

I can totally relate to this. I brought my car into my SVT dealership for a clicking noise in the steering column. They replaced the column, and when I picked it up, the ******* forgot to put the brake light switch back into the pedal assembly. The next day, I got into my car to start it, and the ignition and steering wheel wouldn't unlock. I bring it back in, and then the real fun began. The "tech" gouged my stereo faceplate and the HVAC bezel. He also ripped the rubber surround on the ignition switch. They were supposed to replace all three parts. It's been two weeks with no word. I started working at a Lincoln Mercury dealership, so I decided to bring it there. One of the techs was checking the car to find out why the heat stopped working, and he found that the radiator was nearly bone dry. It was also pushing steam from somewhere up top. Now I have a new radiator, and the car runs mint. That's what I get for getting lazy and not checking fluids. But then again, you would think that the service techs @ the SVT dealership would check those things.......

Gee whiz, I just got my SVTF back from getting it's FOURTH valve cover gasket. When I picked up my car, they had detailed without being asked, did the work I wanted and even (for the first time) cleaned the engine from all the puke that had come out of the previous three valve cover gaskets. And for the first time, they paid the whole car rental (three days, I might add). Prior to this I always had to pick up the tax and some other fee. Maybe Ford is trying to do something different by putting the emphasis back on the customer (well, at least in my case this time.)

I hope you get some satisfaction but remember one very important thing when you complain: have in mind what you expect done! If you say "I'm pissed" then you'll come off as a whiner, if you say "I'm pissed, I want my power steering fixed and anything that was damaged by the failure of the pump, I want FORD to pay for it and I damn well expect a warranty period on this work" then you've made yourself clear, Ford knows how to appease you and will have a baseline on "getting it right."

In any case, good luck, I'm glad my service dept is better than yours.
