I was wondering if one of these would work on the SVT engine, it's dyno'd @ 3hp to the wheels on a stock zetec.

I'm pretty sure they make one for the SVT engine. It's pricey though. I think it's $200+.

No, thats not for the SVT we have a side intake manifold, if you want one for the SVT that is K&N you should get the aircharger its made out of the same plastic material and has the same filter, thats what I'm running now, works great.

A K&N Panel filter will net you around 3 whp so why bother? With that small of a gain, you can't even tell if it is just the error in the dyno or if you really gained something...

I was thinking the Aircharger's & FIPK's were the same with the difference being that the FIPK is CARB approved.

I always thought that the filterchargers were the same thing as the typhoon intake just a plastic tube instead of a metal tube

heh, learn something new every day!

You contradict yourself here by saying you gain 3 horsepower with the K&N replacement, but 3 horsepower is within the margin of error...

You won't gain ANYTHING with the panel. Get yourself an intake and you'll see gains (it's proven). Ever see K&N advertise horsepower gains from just the filter? Nope!

Maybe they don't advertise gains from the panel filter but it has been dyno proven to give you 3+hp. For example look in the new focus fanatics mag (orange focus on the front) and turn to page 79, they dyno'd a K&N drop in filter to give them 5hp on a svt, I've got another book (high perfomance focus builder handbook) that they dyno'd it to give them 3hp and that was on a 02 zx3. Either it gives you gains of 3-5hp or there two dyno's (and many more) are messed up.
