2 day install
I too just installed my new exhaust. it was the closest thing to a failure of an install i've ever gone through. it started at noon on tuesday, and didn't officially get done till 10 am wednesday morning. i ordered the mbrp 2 1/2 inch svt kit because i couldn't say no to that deal ($230). i cut the old exhaust off with a wheel and then had to push my air compressor to the max to get it to break the bolts at the flex. it took 140 psi to break one of them. after i got the stock one out. we mounted up the straight peice and began to slip the next peice over (not bolt on, slip over and clamp) and found that it just wasn't big enough. so i then drove to meineke mufflers to have them stretch the bigger pipe which the guy was cool and did it for free. sadly when we got it home it still didn't fit. at this point all the muffler shops were closed but i got my friend to drive me and the 2 peices of the exhaust i was struggling with to race dezign, a local tuner shop that ended up not having the nessecary tools to stretch the tube. we were about ready to give up when we somehow back at my garage managed to get the muffler pipe over the straight pipe. with some good old fasion force we managed to get it on and in place but not leak free. we hooked up the rest of the kit without problem and in the morning I took the car over to an exhaust specialties shop and have them weld the slip joint and line everything up perfect for thirty bucks. If thats the price of perfection i'm ok with that. plus it sounds pretty good. very racey with typical svt gargle.
ear to ear grin at WOT- priceless.
