rear brakes before fronts?

just took my car to the stealership for its 20000 mile service and they told me i need new rear brakes. sounds crazy cause my front ones are fine, and those are the ones doing all the work. has this happened to anyone or is this crazy?

As long as you don't pay anything. They should not need to be replaced at 20,000, if they need to be something is wrong.

i'd go look at them, if you have 25% or more left, just leave em on you can get your own pads for $30-60 and do it yourself. $270 is crap!

yeah, $270 is a rip off!!! I do notice that my rear brakes seem to be louder than my fronts now (i have about 22000) on m y car.........but i'm not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that i don't have a rear seat, and can hear road noise/anything under the rear of the car easier now............

Geez man, changing brake pads yourself takes all of 30 minutes/wheel if you're going slow.

my rears are in pretty bad shape, but i have almost 42K on mine, so yours shouldnt be bad at all. Sounds like a rip off to me, did you inspect them yourself?
