Question cabin air filter

did a search and i could not find a match, so hopefully this is a true new thread. does the svtf have a cabin filter? they seem to have all the bell and whistles. but my service advisor could not even tell me.

yes. the SVTF does have a cabin air filter like the the regular focus. but it's kinda tricky to install. if you don't do it right, you can have a leak in your car after the install.

that website doesn't seem to warn people about the possibility of a leak. but you can always seal it up.

I put one in a couple weeks ago. It's rained since and I haven't noticed any leaks.

Mine did NOT come with one, but I had one put in... If you DIY, watch out or it might leak. I thought it was pretty cheap that one didn't come in it, the place is there just no filter. I think it was like $22 for the filter.

Your car doesn't come with one...apparantly its a 'dealer install', which they don't to save the $25 dollars. you don't need to 'order', either. Most Autozone's carry the proper Purolator application for the SVT.

It is an easy install, and makes a noticable improvement if you live in the country or other dusty environments. I notice very little dust and grit accumulating on the dash with my filter installed. Previous vehicles have been a dust magnet in this regard.

I haven't had any problems with leaks...just make sure you reinstall the weather strip correctly and you shouldn't have a problem.

So more than likely we don't have a cabin air filter installed? I'm not counting on my dealer giving me something for free without telling me , but I don't want to mess with these "fragile" plastic pieces if I don't have to.

C'mon, this is being approached like it was an engine swap, for Chrissakes!

Just get one, look up one of the many FAQs for installing it, and enjoy a cleaner car and breathing cleaner air. This is a very inexpensive item, it will take 10 minutes and 0 hand tools.

It's simple guys....your car won't have one in it if you or the previous owner didn't install it. Just follow the "how-to's", don't yank things that don't want to be removed easily, and it's a simple process. It won't make the car faster, lighter, quicker, or more powerful. It will keep the interior cleaner, more dust-free IF you keep your windows rolled up and the sunroof closed. And will set you back about $20.
