Reveiw: Clutch Masters FX300 (Stage 3) Clutch and Light Flywheel (160miles)

Well, its been 160 miles since I installed the FX3/FW from Clutch Masters. I havent been able to flog it as I'm awaiting the magic 400 mile mark. BUT, in light, sometimes full throttle-early shifting, I have some impressions.

This clutch feels STOCK. Pushing the pedal takes OEM-like effort. But it GRABS quick. Right at the top. I beleive the FX3 is a carbon/ kevlar material. Its good for High HP NA and/or 1 power adder.

The flywheel....WOW! Smooth and fast rev's are an understatement. The car revs QUICK!! I eased off the light (traffic light) got to about 15-20 and mashed it...it just zapped to redline. No joke!

The build quality of CM's stuff (and prior experience, level 4, 3 puck unsprung hub in the FASTiva) made me choose them again. A choice I'm very happy with. The flywheel was so purty, I hate I'll never see it. Oh well....

The one thing though...it does tend to chatter just a bit. Mostly noticeable at the top of 2nd and letting off. Sounds like a heatsheild rattle. I knew there was a downside (besides a very quickly dropping tach), but its totally livable.

If you are in need of a clutch and you are at 36k + do your self and your car a favor and get the Clutch Masters FX300 with Flywheel. You'll be happy too!!

I cant wait to hit 400 miles....

Same setup i have, although i havent installed it yet. Did you install it yourself, or at your shop? ive heard its better to get it done because of the large hassle

I "lent a hand" I too am short on time. A buddy at a dealership (a guy I went to before I did my own work) popped it in for $200.

He told me theres about 900 bolts holding it all together. Said the bolts were the most time consuming. Didnt drop the k member, and the axles popped right out. He said it wasnt hard at all...

I had to work so I was just there giving any info I could during the install...little tips and tricks I picked up...

Two things I hate doing: Anything involving engine timing (T Belt, cam gears, etc.) and CLUTCHES!! RWD is a peice of cake, FWD, ugh...

doesn't (chatter) happen when taking off ?? Or when feathering or slipping the clutch??
