Thumbs up steeda intake - first impressions

There is definitely some power there to be had regardless of what I've heard. Maybe a dyno wouldn't show that much, but the response is better for sure.
I normally can't pull 2nd gear chirps this easily.
Nice quality - spent most of my time on the install trying to figure out how to get the coil cover thing off without breaking a clip - a success - but still the only pain.
Looks like with the suction going on at anything but idle, it will benefit still from the svt snorkel only 3 inches away.
I can smell a hose mod, tho to bring the snorkel directly to the filter.. hehe.
On another post I moaned about the filter on the maf thing... I admit my defeat. The steeda filter mounts right on it anyways.
I was speaking from experiences with my tiburon and I guess the little sensor things on a ford are more worthy.
I'll admit the intakes (aem, steeda, etc) are a little pricey for what you get with a short ram, but then again they look real nice ,too.
The sound is kinda scary. Going on the freeway at 6000 rpm it sounds like some sort of demon crawled under my hood and is being sucked back into the pits of hell or something.
Never had a short ram before ( always had a cai ), so maybe it's just the way they all sound.
It could also be that with tom's tune the extra air provides more of a benefit ( we all know na mods seem to compliment each other).
Cheers, my find Ford-feathered friends.

Yes, I agree with everything you said. However, if you're on a tight budget, you can just pick up the filter and add it to the stock system. I don't know how much better the piping is than the stock plastic tubing. But if spending the 150-200 is ok, then go for it.

Yeah, pope, that's what I was meaning as well. I'm sure it is a little better than the rubber - looks like the thing that was on my ranger - tubing, but 150 was a little pricey. The filter is WAY big, tho, so might be a $50 filter there. In some ways, you have to say the money is partly to make your engine bay look real "polished". I kinda liken it to getting a set of colored spark plug wires - you pay a little for the look.
I personally think all the companies with intakes should be charging around $75.
Of course, I don't work for one of them and want a Christmas bonus!

I just installed the Steeda Intake on my 2002 SVT Focus and I am not that impressed with the HP increase. I had the AEM CAI and hated it because it picked up everything off the ground except the neighborhood cat. I then went with the K & N drop in, I think this is the best bang for the buck. I think I am going to be really dissapointed when the weather warms up, I left my SVT snorkle on to bring in some cooler breezes to the intake, hopefully this helps. I am also wondering how great the Steeda filter is at filtering the air, not sure who the intake is from??? I love the sound from the intake, just not sure if a neat sound was worth the $.
