better them than us!!

I like to look at some other forum sites to see what the competition is talking about and it seems like the SRT forums site is having problems with Big Brother spying on them and voiding their warranties! Same problem EVO owners are having. Hope it does'nt come down to us too!! I know it's off topic but I found it pretty interesting!

damn that sucks. well, i guess my warranty will be voided in less than 1k miles, so doesn't really matter a whole lot. that, and i don't have any mods....

i think he means daimler-chrysler . . . unless he's talking about emissions failures in CARB/SMOG check states, the government can't just void a warranty

when i bought my car it was to come with a 2 year warranty i opted not to get it and it took like 3 grand off the sticker price. my boss just bought a cavalier from the dealer brand new and it has a 100,000 miles warrenty on it now hes pissed because he wants to mod it and they said no. one alternative he found was to get gm performance parts. they dont void his warrenty.

I think its more that if you scotto46 from reno, nv posted a thread called "Dang, my XXX just broke" and in the thread you explained that while doing xxx activity while running xxx part on your Focus that zzz part broke and you were taking it to Ford in the morning as soon as you removed xxx non-warranty part it wouldn't be too hard to figure out that a red svt that showed up in the service drive of a Reno dealer later that day with a broken zzz part could just possibily be you. Not to mention that a lot of the people have pics of their cars on the sites and in those pics a certain decal, dent, hell sometimes even the plate number (for those that don't block them out) could give the identity of the poster. Another thing is a LOT of the people that use car forums are printing out threads from the forum and taking it to the dealers to show a problem, TSB, etc. which gives the identity easily.

Too bad Ford doesn't follow suit. Ford racing parts will void your warranty just like any other performance upgrades.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that bolting on mods( even a supercharger) will not void your warranty. This only applies to the SVT but there are catches. They say that your warranty will stay intact unless the bolt on is directly related to what has been damaged. Now, that should go without saying. But, you can check this out for yourself, just go to ford svt"s website and look. I work for Ford and found that one day when i was checking out the site right after i bought my new SVT. Just thought you guys would like to know that. Sorry to the guys (and girls) that have the ZX3"s. Ford, i dont think, gives the same exception.
