Stock Intake, Disconnected?

I have a stock SVT intake and was looking at it the other day when I put a K&N drop-in. I had posted something on this previously and noone gave me an answer. Anyway, I have attached a pic of exactly where it is not connected. I don't think this is how it should be, but am unsure. I modified the pic on from my fordfocus.com since it is an exact pic of mine (cept the resonator) and circled where the problem is. I need to know cuz if it is wrong, this could either be a problem or better.

No one gave you an answer??? That's not how I remember it. Why don't you just take a picture of your own intake, since you seem to be so worried about it, and let us look at that?

what do you mean by not connected? a pic would help lots

EDIT: I just looked at your other thread about this and it seems like you got an answer. if you are worried about it that much then just buy an aftermarket intake

As I said in your last post, yes, it is supposed to be connected so the engine will suck air through the snorkel and not suck hot air from the engine compartment. If it has come loose or disconnected, re-connect it to the airbox.

well, the other guy in the last post said he wasn't sure. sorry for doubting you. I just need to be sure. It seems pretty snug tho and hard to move. I didn't tug that hard tho cuz I was afraid of something breaking!

When you changed the filter, could you see that it wasn't connected, could you see the engine compartment through the hole in the bottom of the box? If it is dis-connected, you have to lift that end of the box a little to get it in properly. You will have to lift up kinda hard because the bottom of the box has plastic studs that go into rubber gromets, that's what holds the box in place.

I SEE NOW, in the last past, which i was being dumb about. I have a part missing. Some fitting between the hose and the air box. Its just not there. when WD40 said something about his being a 1/2 inch under I gt all confused. I brought it to the ford dealership for a CEL and told em, btu I doubt they even looked and if they did the guy said he didn't really know much about SVTF's. Anyway should I bring ti back to get replaced for free or do you think I will have to buy this?

^^^Hmmm, that's a good question. If it were me, I would take it to the dealer and tell them it has been missing since day one and that I recently noticed it and would ask them to get me a new one. If you do have to buy it, it shouldn't cost that much. Good luck with it.
