That's what mine did when it was bad. I replaced it and no problems. The harness is plugged n all the way, right?

yes, it's plugged in fine. trying to find some time to work on it now. I was just also trying to find out what models have a box that is a plug & play. The cable should be easy to swap out if they are the same on the box end. I just wanted to verify this with some one before I started looking for a used IMRC from another model car.

There is an IMRC sensor somewhere. I an not sure the sensor is, but the SVT strategy has a switch for a sensor and it is enabled.
What exactly is the code?

P1518
I believe the whole system is contained within the IMRC. The contactor switch in the IMRC makes contact and breaks contact when the cam moves from one exteme to the other. All this is good, cleaned, repaired. The motor activates as I stated before. The OP had the same symptoms I'm having and a new IMRC did not solve the problem. I don't mind replacing the IMRC if that would solve it but I've seen a few cases now where a new IMRC did not fix it.

Do you have a wiring schematic of the PCM and IMRC connector? If not I can send you a screen shot. This also may help you as;

The IMRC system is monitored for failure during continuous, key ON engine OFF or key ON engine running self-test. The test fails when the signal on the monitor pin is less than an expected calibrated range at closed throttle.

An IMRCM PID reading approximately near 1 volt at closed throttle may indicate a fault. If you don't have a diagnostic tool, you can manually monitor voltage at the PCM using a DVOM.

-IMRC monitor signal circuit shorted to PWR, GND or SIG RTN
-Loose pin fit at the IMRC actuator (most likely) or PCM (least likely)
-Damaged IMRC actuator (can probably cross this one out)
-Damaged IMRC module

i had the same problem. the cable that's used to open the valve at the intake was seized. wd40 it and work it back and forth and you should be good. your actuator motor box is fine but i can't open/close a cable that is half seized.
