Question svt clutch hard to shift.

I went to go look at a svt focus for sale I got in and had to back up. But found it pretty hard to put into reverse. the shifter was just really stiff what does this mean? And should I take a chance at buying it?

Have you driven an svt before? The svt does have a notch you have to get past before you put it in reverse. The reason I ask is because I upgraded from a 00 focus 5-speed and it was a little odd to shift the svt at first. Reverse did feel hard until I got used to it, and I kept shifting into 3rd instead of first the first hour or so. I could be wrong, but i believe it is just a matter of getting used to it.

Not a focus but other svt 6 speed. But it just seemed really hard to shift even from 1st to 2nd. Idk why?

Yea it was just real stiff like even in N it was stiff. I think I might have needed a new clutch. And 138,000.

shift tower may need some lube, also the counterweight could be removed. cables may need adjsuting, and did it have a short throw shifter?

Reverse takes a little grunt with the 6spd. If it had a short-throw, I'd expect it to be even worse.

Seems to me that the Getrag shifter in general takes more force to move through the gears than an MTX-75 shifter. Reverse is heavily gated to prevent engaging it instead of first, I would think. I plan to do a STS and maybe counterweight removal to clean up the shift action some day.
