I don't have an SVT Focus yet. I have been looking around the past few weeks looking for something fun and reasonably priced. I think I found it in a SVT Focus! This car is really a blast to drive. It answers my needs for a car that a joy to drive and yet has a lot of neat upgrades. I currently drive a '95 M3 that I bought new and still really enjoy. Our everyday driver is a '02 PT.

I wanted some input on this car from other owners. I really like the seats in the euro pkg. So I will probably go this route. My problem is going to be color. I am leaning to the red or the blue. I know that when you go with the euro pkg. you get all of the options. I like that the car will have HID headlights. Any comments from anyone with these lights? How about the Recaro seats?

Any other input will be helpful. I look forward to ordering my SVT Focus soon. Thanks for the help, I look forward to keeping up with this site.

the blue is sweet. i personally would get the orange one. the euro package has sweet wheels too. i liked the svt, i had one for a couple months. its not as fast as i would have liked but thats what aftermarket is for. the handling in that car is kick ass though, u will definately appreciate that. interior is the nicest ur gonna get in the price range.

See my post in the SVTOA forum... Also along the "ride" for the price your adding to the car from the standard foci... You can't beat the upgrades you get for the money... 40 HP and more torque... Leather, power seat, 6 gears, body exterior upgrades, service (loaner, wash and vacuum each time in shop)... And all the other stuff you get from purchasing a SVT vehicle (meets, discounts, etc) you can't beat the price for the extra's you get.... Hell whats a decked out zx3 run? My wifes was $19600 before the 3000 in rebates....

I don't have the HID's or the Recaro's (weren't available in '02) I do however have all the other options. I love my car and have no regrets on the purchase. I've tested the svt head to head with the civic si, sentra se-r spec v and golf gti and thought the svt was the best of the bunch. In my opinion I'll have to agree with eurozx3, the orange & euro package looks the best.[thumb]

What's wrong with the M3?? I'll take it off your hands if you like. [:D] Seriously though, the SVT is a great car. It's no BMW, but it's no junker, either. The Recaro seats seem to be quite popular with those who have them - I haven't heard any complaints. I'm kind of partial to Sonic Blue as a paint choice, myself. [rolleyes]

One thing that you may want to keep in mind is that there does seem to be quite a few complaints concerning common problems with the SVT in particular. Failing clutches, rough idling/running, stalling, and a few electrical gremlins come to mind. I haven't had a problem with mine, but I do drive it only sparingly and not as rough as I suspect some of the people having issues do. [paranoid] And even though SVT owners are supposed to get the special treatment at the dealership, I don't expect the Ford dealer can really compare to the service you'd get at a BMW dealership. Or so I hear, I've never owned a BMW... [V]

The Euro is cool because it has the seats. My seats don't give me any support. The HIDs are a must. I honestly believe that I will never own another car without HIDs. I recommend the blue because my car looks like a girl's car.
If you have to service your bimmer the same way I had to service mine then you're in for a world of happiness. I had to take my old bimmer to a specialist shop & pay out the wazoo. With the SVT I can just get the oil changed & tires balanced and leave with a clean car.

I was lookin @ the orange euro SVT. It was a little more then i wanted to spend. So i got a silver SVT w/ everything the euro has but the trac control, sunroof, seats, and wheels. Plus I only paid 13500 w/ my 2000 SE trade.

Another thing. I thought the euro package only came in yellow and orange?

when i got my zx3 they had a silver svt on the lot with the euro package, the car was sweet but my wife can`t drive a stick [?|] but that car was calling me[bigcry] the silver was nice but the blue and orange are probaly better. those headlights are sooo much better than stock. just my 2 cents

Hello all,

I just got my '03 SVTF w/European package 2 weeks ago and I am loving it. I looked at the SVTF without the Euro package and just did not find it appealing enough. For the color I went with black. I've leased many a vehicle from Ford but have not had black yet so I went with it for my SVTF. The options that come with the European package are great. THe wheels are awesome looking. The HIDS are something I have never had but will not go without anymore. I do love the seats, especailly when I take a corner fast. They keep you planted and coushioned wonderfully. The seat warmers are a blessing since I am in MN and the cold is working its way here.

All in all I am very satisified with my 03 SVTF. I am coming from a Ranger which I can no longer tolerate. The only issue I have found with this vehicle is that since it has the big brakes, finding rims for the winter has been difficult. There does not seem to be any options other than an alloy wheel and that can get spendy. So I will be getting either Blizzaks WS-50 or Graspic DS-1 and putting them on the current rims. I'll look at getting winter alternate rims next year.

All in all I am happy so far with my SVTF. Its only been a few weeks so we shall see how much I like it when the snow flies :p

Later,

Hey guys, thanks for the replys. To answer one of the posts, there is nothing wrong with my M3 and I intend to keep it. It just that I have owned it for 8 years now and want a little change in my toy box. (lol)

I will be in the Chicago area for Thanksgiving and will be looking around at some SVT dealers to see if I can find a blue so that I can see what it looks like. I will also look at others to form an opinion on the color selection. If anyone lives there and can guide me towards some dealers with blue as well as some other colors on their lot it would be a great help!

I will be in the western suburbs as well as the McHenry county area. I just got a hold of a '04 brochure and you can now get the euro pkg. on the 5 door body. I think I will get the 3 door style. Thanks again for any help you can provide.

the only problem i've heard about in the recaro seats is only going to be a problem if you are going b@!!$ to the wall with it. i heard you can't get racing harness' for the recaro seats. maybe it's true, maybe it's not, but thats what i heard from a friend and fellow focus owner who happens to be a ford mechanic. but then again, if your not gonna make the focus run 11's or less, you don't need the racing harness' at the track.

The euro package comes in competition orange, screaming yellow, and pitch black, as far as i know that's the only colors, no blue. I'd definetly go for the euro package, just to get those badass recaros. I saw a competition orange svt for the first time in person a few days ago, parked right next to my focus =0.
