faster?

I just recently broke my dsi cable. so the dealer replaced teh cable and since it also broke the manifold they replaced that with the new style manifold. I also had them flash my car, since it hasn't been flashed before. Now my car seems a lot faster, from what ive heard the flash doesn't really make it that much faster, it just makes the short runners engage at 4000 rpm. I was wondering which item was making my car go faster, or if im just imagining it because i haven't had my car for so long

I think most of it is in your head. I would love to see a dyno comparison between the old runner changover setting and the new one though. Anyone have that?

they replaced that with the new style manifold.
New style manifold????

it just makes the short runners engage at 4000 rpm.
Actually;
Stock flash: Runners switch at 6,000.
New flash: Runners switch at 5,000.
Most likely, from reading posts on this site, that's what you're feeling.

I've never heard of a new style intake manifold.
You sure they weren't referring to the new design of the DSI switch cable assembly?
The older models were plastic, and the new ones are metal.

From what I remember, the part the Cable clips to is stronger...thats all. I could be wrong.

I saw a dyno chart from RLA1 (or maybe RLA2) to YRF0. I think they pulled like 4whp or so, and shifted the powerband a little with the DSI changeover point. From what Ive found and felt, 5250 is the sweet spot for the DSI changeover.

Also, with RLA1 or RLA2, remember how stong it felt when the DSI kicked in? Felt like a tiny tiny turbo (ok, maybe not a turbo, but a nice kick!). The reason is, right around 5300, the power dipped down, then shot back up by about ~10whp when the DSI kicked at 6000. The reason its not as noticeable (with YRF0) is becuase the power increase is more linear, its not so much of a spike anymore. I think at 5000 its still a bit early...kicking too early in the torque band...5250 (when tq. changes to hp) is the sweet spot. Im tellin you!!

There's nothing as cool as controlling the DSI. I think I have the CEL figured out with my system too, just need it to stop raining so I can try my idea...(see my post re: DSIC if you dont know what I'm talkin about)
