AEM CAI Questions

Has anyone had a bad experience with one of these? I hear a lot of warnings about the filter location and talk of shields - but has anyone had the location become a problem?

Also, if you could provide pictures of your shields it would be appreciated.

ok....yes alot of people say that it gets wet easy and that it will realllly clog up bad and blah blah....first things first unless you go swimming in your car you dont have to worry....ana secon a air filter has oil in it to stop stuff like water from actually getting in....you can buy a shield but i think it is just a waste of money

well its just up to you...you can also spend 50 bucks and get a by pass valve...but nothing is even really needed unless you want it. The filter has the sticky oil inside so stuIff like that cant happen. Its all just what you want

well thanks for the heads up - I think I'll go with it as opposed to the short ram air and "risk" the filter clogs ^_^

plus I made nice with a lot of the guys at my dealership so anything short of a turbo/supercharger and they will still honor my warranty

yeah, did a search before I made the thread. there's a grip of warnings but nobody actually has a story where it went bad. plus, i think the sound and extra boost would be worth the risk ^_^

interesting - but I'll pass and just go with the AEM CAI

I was also thinking about getting that "tornado" piece to go inside the intake for a better fuel mixture, but it's over 100 bucks so I'm just going to fabricate my own. Anyone have one of these?
