fluttering gauges?

hey there
ive got an 02 sonic blue svt 3 door

ive been noticing that my gauges, check engine lights (and so on), all other dash lights, even my heater blower (ac has a leak, but i would imagine it does it too) flutter

its almost as if the alternator is goingout, but it does it by itself (not associated with throttle repsonse)

i feel like its just a bad connector somewhere, but i am not sure

has anyone had any experience with this?

also, sometimes the battery light comes on at a stopsign/light but only until i take off again, and even then thats only happened maybe three times in the last week or so

thanks!

^ i shit 2.... spent the whole morning trouble shooting... because i was getting the flickers plus the battery light was going on and off after about an hour i opened the fuse box and saw that the fker was out... $2.50 at autozone for a pack of 5... only used one of course.

it did make the car sound kind of cool, like it had an msd ingition or something lol! like missing a bit on high rpms, gave me more exhaust pop and cr@p

Well I checked all of the fuses and they all seem to be where they need to be/ doing their job
My dad suggested that it was infancy the voltage regulator on the alternator
Anyone had any luck with that?

Going to buy a new alternator this week
It seems like its the volatge regulator itself because its starting to make the engine sputter too, and when i put a meter to the battery and did some reving, i got some really inconsistent readings

BOY OH BOY update
so i found and fixed the problem!
bought a new alternator to put in, and wrestled the old one out after three hours of labor... only to find that the three wire connector had one wire COMEPLETELY corroded through, and a second one about 85% shot.

well theres your problem.

Hint for everyone- svt focus alternators cannot be tested at your local parts store because of the threaded insert on one side of the mounts.

so because of that, i decided to rewire the connector, and then put the old alternator back in to see if that worked. Worst possible scenario is that i gotta pull it all back out and swap in the new alternator.

and that was it, just the connector. saved myself 200 bucks.
no more fluttering gauges
