imrc check up

Guys wots the best way to to check if my imrc is in top notch , cos the management light comes on at times and the fault reader says imrc stuck open , put the light off goes for a few hundred kms n back on again , ford says its nothing to worry abouT , but the car feels down on power when that light comes on ,

When the light comes on have some one start the car and you be watching where the cable connects to the intake that opens and closes the runners if it moves when the key is turned or or engine started then it is working , no movement means it isnt working and either your IMRC is broken at the intake , fuse , IMRC motor is bad , wiring to IMRC motor

Ok so there ıs movement meanıng my ımrc ıs functıonal but why ıs ıt throwıng up ımrc stuck open code , could the motor have a rusty or weak connectıon ıf ıts functıonal why does the car feel low on power,

even if it doesnt stay stuck open... if it has a rusty or weak signal it will produce the CEL, that happened to me like 3 weeks after owning the car. check the how to files, easy 2-3 hour job.

the selenoid is prob throwing off a weak signal = that triggers the CEL... its doesnt really mean it doesnt work, or cause loss of power

Mine does the same thing IMRC works as normal but the signal sucks so the CEL constantly gets thrown, about to yank it out for the 2nd refurb.

If the Idual stage intake was not working at all you would notice a lack of low end torque.

The system is set up with the intake spring loaded open. When you start the car the motion you see that Tom mentioned is the IMRC pulling the intake runners closed to help low end torque. when you hit 6k rpm (on a stock tune) the IMRC lets the cable "loose" and the spring snaps the intake runners open for short tubes for high rpm operation.
