timing belt change?????

Okay I mentioned not too long ago that I just purchased an svt, upgrading from kona zx3.... So the svt has 109000 miles on it but looks extremly good...... And when I was reading the schedule maintenance guide it never once mentions the timing belt....... So is that really needed to be done at this time or do I just flush and change all fluids????? Or really what do I do?????? Cause I actually have money to spend so I just need to know what I should really spend it on............. Thanks for all the help guys.......

Timing belt change for the Svt is about 100,000 miles.

change the belt/tensioner/etc ASAP.

It was supposed to be done at 80k. If you don't have any record of it being done, be on the safe side and get it done. If that belt or tensioner lets go, you're going to lose your whole top end. The SVT engine is an interference engine, if it loses timing the valves and pistons will smash together and cause a LOT of damage

This is the thread I started a while back. Im not sure why it doesnt show up anymore unless you search for it, but this is what happens when SVT timing belts snap. The pics tell the nasty story, and has less miles then yours. Its not just mileage ppl, its their AGE too. Cost the kids dad about 3500 for everything.

Public service announcement...(timing belt horror story included)

Don't drive the car until you get the belt changed. It's not a hard job, there are videos on you tube covering it, and the parts are not that much. Do the water pump while you're in there, and inspect the right motor mount too.

Do it now.

As everyone said, change it if you don't know it's been changed. It's much cheaper and easier than doing head work...
