new svt owner.....

Okay just picked up a 03 Svt 4 door...... Silver in excellent condition....... From what I read so far I already scheduled the timing belt change, fluid flush for coolant,brake,power steering and transmission.... All that with midas will run750 before taxes......... I will change spark plugs and oil on my own..... What kind of oil do you all recommend????????? Other then that what else does any one recommends I do for it now.......... Had a zx3 Kona for three years and wow is this car way fast...... Love it so far....... I'll have pictures up soon......

Yes. i have been experimenting with it recently and really anything below 91 makes it run like it doesnt have much power and not very smoothe.
anything above 91 is clearly better. ive had better fuel mileage and everything on the higher octane with more driving power so to say, and its really a "you get what you pay for" issue, but i highly recommend using 91+

Okay thanks for the heads up on the gas........ So what kind of engine oil should I use....... and I seen the thread for transmission oil change to use royal purple..... But if you do maintenance yourself is it your warranty still good........ Or do I have to get it done by ASE certified mechanic?????? Thanks for the help guys........

For fuel: 91octane or better, for oil: 5w20 is fine, but 5w-30 is recommended... Also SVT Focus' have a special transmission fluid, the parts guys at a dealer will know/have that. I've been running 75w90 Redline with no ill effects, but I've seen others on here that would disagree... you can't go wrong with manufacturer's preference though!

Keep an eye online and monitor the who's-who of "Top Tier" gasolines, the industry sets minimum standards for excellent fuels based on consistency of octanes, detergents, and additives. Lower tier fuels will, without a doubt, contribute to buildup on internals and poorer performance long and short term (you'll be hard pressed to feel the dip as it happens, due to the gradual slip in internal conditions).
