New Svt owner! Questions!

Earlier this month my parents surprised me by buying me a 2004 zx5 Svt. We got the car from the dealer the exterior and interior looked great, the only issue it had was the check engine light was on and we sensed weak motor mounts. We got rid of the check engine light which was caused by bad connections in the Imrc. Overall Everythingís running great and the cars nice and clean however I need new motor mounts and donít know what to go with ive searched all over for a set *Left right and rear* but havent found what ive been looking for. Are the svt's motor mountsthe same as the regular zx3 and zx5 focus? If not where can i get good quality mounts other than steeda?

Call Steve at Tousley Ford (search). I'm pretty sure all three OEM mounts are still available new, but I'd be surprised if all of yours are shot - it's usually the passenger-side mount that goes bad (I replaced mine a few months ago).

But, indeed, C-F-M's "dogbone" (Lower Torque Mount) is a nice piece. Your vibration at idle will increase a tad, but it subtly improves shifting...

Do you have HID's? If so those are $800 a piece from the factory.

The aftermarket ones from cfm and steeda are nice but for race/track use only. I hear they are so stiff that the car rattles and vibrates even more than it already does normally. I have seen many people get these and then want to go back to stock mounts. I would replace with stock mounts.

I replaced my driver side mount with pepboys Anchor brand mount (about $50)and the dogbone mount under the car for the tranny I used the new insert that cfm sells. You reuse the mount, but put new rubber inserts in it. It was a huge bitch. It's hard to press the old rubber mounts out and press the new ones in to the metal dogbone piece, and even harder to shove it back into where it goes to hold the tranny up. It was not easy. And the passenger mount I have not replaced (even though it needs it) because it's a liquid filled $180 mount and svt specific. Yeah lol.

driver side and lower dogbone mount are the same for zx3/zx5/SVT. these would be ok to get in a poly version for a daily driver
the passenger side mount is unique to SVT, i dont reccomend the poly version, it vibrates alot. im about to consider going back to a stock mount.
