Passing smog

I am considering getting a vortech or turbo on my car in the future but am wondering how the hell some of you *******s pass smog? i checked out a few smog places and they said theres no way it will pass with an after market system like that?

I doubt any of you take all your shit off when the smog notice comes in the mail so how are u getting registered?

I am not 100% sure but I thought that the advantage of the Vortech kit was that it is CARB legal.

Actually here is a link from teh Vortech site: >>http.

The answer is that YES, it has a CARB certification thus making it SMOG legal.

Hell yes crooked smog check. There's no other way, in California the check is far too rigid to allow a modification like a turbo or nitrous. The nitrous you might be able to hide from the visual inspection if you install everything in the right places, but a turbo is pretty hard to hide, and the state keeps track of the original specs of each car so if it says on their computer that yours should be N/A and it's got a turbo in there, busted. The only other way I can see around that would be to register the car as "off-road use only" but then of course you might as well not register it at all.

yea smog in cali is a real bitch....i just love how we have to go to those "test only" places to get a check. If we dont pass we have to take it to somewhere else to fix the problem then take it back to the test only place praying this time it passes....

I wouldnt buy a mustang id get the EVO

Well my Z71 Silverado passed with flying colors, of course it's only measured against vehicles of the same output. Pretty sure you're not going to pass with a turbo setup in cali. JRSC or Vortech both have CARB certs so I'm going with one of the two when I go F/I.
