so cold... heat doesn't even work

Coming home from class today i noticed my oil temp and antifreeze temp wernt even reading there normal temps. My heat was on so I turned it off and the gauges slowly climed back up. So I turned the heat back on ( had to sleet was freezing to windows) and my temps bottomed back out an no more heat...

Don't think this is normal... anyone in the greatlakes area have this problem

A 180 t-stat would be fine, i run a 180 and have my cooling fans adjusted to a lower temp for the summer time also.

Yeah, I also would bet the thermostat is stuck.
With the car warmed up... try tapping on the thermostat housing with a plastic hammer, or a rubber hammer.
Maybe a short term solution.
If it works for a week or so...

Similar thing happened to me when coolant level was low - due to the leakage o-ring on the thermostat housing. Normal temperature reading but no heat. I topped up the coolant reservour and it worked normal after.

Just got done replacing my thermostat and thermostat housing with cfm's... and all new coolant. Seem to fix a problem so far but it's not quite as cold out as it was
