svt seat question

Does any one know if the Recaro seats have more bolster than the regular svt seats. Thats one grip I have with the drivers seat. I seem to have a few inches that i can move sideways before I contact the side support. I don't want to go aftermarket and loose the airbag. Can someone with the Recaro seats measure the distance from the bolster to bolster. Any feedback would be awesome.

Ahhh, the bolsters are not adjustable. The adjustable features on the Recaros are seat recline and lumbar support (which is broken on my drivers side, ughh). I drove several SVTs before settling on my 2003 EAP and found the Recaros much snugger than the regular SVT seats. By the way, I'm 5'5" and 140 pounds. I guess I'm pretty well built upper body-wise and find the side bolsters very snug for my build. If I push myself back into the seat I can feel pressure from the side bolsters when I inhale. FYI, I took a measurement of my chest after inhaling and I'm 38 inches around. I measured the stitching for the seat back from one side to the other and at its widest point at the bottom I got 11 1/4 inches and a little less than 11 inches at its narrowest point near the top. I did not measure from one bolster to the other since the curve varies throughout the seat. The seat back looks vaguely like this ) (. However, the narrowest point is not in the middle but 1/4 of the way down and the curve is not that drastic, obviously.

And, all SVT seats are power height adjustable, whether they are Recaro or not.

I'm 5'11 165 and the Recaros hold me pretty tight. If anything my butt will slide a few millimeters on the seat bottom.

Yeah, I also forgot to mention that they are power height adjustable. That brings to mind my only gripe with the Recaro seats is that the drivers seat sits too high. I have the drivers seat height adjusted as low as it can go and I sit a lot higher than in my other car (2000 Nissan Sentra SE). Maybe someone knows something about different mounting rails. By the way, I called Steve @ Tousley Ford about this and he said he's glad he doesn't have the Recaros because he's 6'6" and had to lean back so far in the Recaro seats that he was very uncomfortable. I'm over a foot shorter at 5'5" but I feel sorta like I'm sitting "on" the seat rather than "in" it. I guess the regular SVT seats don't have this problem and are able to go lower.
