Has this happen to anyone? Please help the NOOB

Okay so I owned my SVT for a few months, and since I owned it the cluster back light has never worked. The dimmer works I see the needles dimming from high to low when I toggle it. The bulbs work I took them out and tried them. I can even see them from the cracks that they turn on. The oil pressure and Temp gauge on the side also the back light does not turn on.

What can I do?
Is there something inside I can replace to get it to work again?
Can I rig up LED Strips behind the Gauge face paper thing?
Ideas anything?

I really don't want to change my cluster for 2 reasons, there to expensive and because I have a engine swap so its going to be kinda weird 50k on the engine 132k on body and 100k or so on cluster? It just wont look good if I ever go to sell it. To many numbers

Thanks.

The SVT cluster is lit differently than most, it doesn't use bulbs but it's like electro luminescent sheet deal. if they both aren't working I'd point my fingers to the inverter used to light them.

I'm a tech at a ford dealership, I've fixed a similar issue in a zx3- it ended up being the headlight switch. If you have a friend with a focus, borrow their switch for a few mins and plug up in yours. if your cluster works with a known good switch, you'll know what to buy and it's pretty cheap.
