New Member and New to F/I

Hello guys. My name is Austin from Pennsylvania. New to the forum. And new to performance four cylinders. I have an 04 svt with about 107000 miles. This past week I have been reading myself blue in face about turbos and other F/I. I was all about going F/I and have slowly began pricing and piecing a turbo kit together from C-F-M. I don't race or anything like that just wanted to add some good power to the focus to beat up on some of my buddies Hondas and srt4s and absolutely love the pull of a turbo and sound of the blow off valve. My only concern was the high mileage of the motor after putting all the money and work into it and something serious ends up happening to it. I have a lot of money into it already it runs great and strong but there is always the unforeseeable i guess. So I then began reading all 17 pages of the most powerful N/A focus. For the most part very impressive stuff. So really my main question is are there any high mileage turbo focuses or would it be better at this point to stay N/A. Thanks tons in advance for any input.

keep your car, keep ur current engine... find/buy another svt engine, build that one then swap engines. youll have a built turbo one, nice internals etc... plus youll still have ur original 107k mile motor laying around your garage just in case something happens. if everything turns out good after a few months and you like the power, doesnt break or whatever sell your original engine = $$$

or if you have another car you can use for a month or so, tear the current engine apart, build it up and turbo it. should take 3-4 weeks? to piece/build everything up together putting a few hours into it every week

Build a side engine. It's what Tom advised me to do when I asked him what the best approach to F/I would be, and it really seems to be the most sensible after reading and trying to find the best way to be prepared under unfortunate circumstances.

Well I guess I could go either route. Just the problem of finding another svt focus motor. Im only 19 and still live at home so i do have another vehicle to drive whill my svt is down. Now as far as building the engine up, what goes into that.

A regular zetec block is ok. CFM sells a completely 100% new short block zetec with forged internals for made for boost $1999. So just find a Svt head to have rebuilt/ported and polished. Or u can find a zetec block and rebuild it locally. Basically do it right the first time or spend more fixing the failures

So a zx3 Zetec motor will bolt right up to my svt trans. Will all the harnesses and ecu work correctly. I may just find another complete zx3 motor and build that on the side. Unfortunately I don't have that much more money for a new block, but it is beauty full. Ha.
