SVT Transmission Blew Up Diff?

So i do believe i blew my diff. I was driving home from work and noticed something strange when i turned onto my street and when i pulled into my driveway it felt like my wheel was about to fall off. There was a huge puddle of gear oil. pulled the engine and trans and theres a 1 inch hole inside the bell housing by the diff. didn't know if it was a good idea to get a new bell housing and rebuild it or just get a used one. and kinda curious on why this happened

thats a 12mm 3/8 socket next to the hole

I don't believe you can rebuild these. If it was actualy gear oil on the ground that could be why it blew, these trans take a much thinner automatic trans fluid. I believe the only part you can buy for these is a lsd diff. unless you can find a doner trans.

it was Redline MTL (previous owner was running that). Ya i had a feeling someone was going to say that. I'm afraid to just replace the diff don't fee like spending that and welding the hole shut to have it happen again.

Yeah you might be better off just getting a used one. Check the Buy sell trade section for one or someone parting out an svt. Welding up the hole just doesn't seem like a good idea, plus all the metal that went through the gears and syncros.
