Oxygen sensor question

Hey all,
I'm throwing an O2 code on my 2004 SVT. I will replace the O2 sensor regardless but my question is:

Can i cut the wirest to the O2 and just replace the sensor it self by wiring a different O2 into the stock connector?

I have an O2 from a newer chevy. I replaced it becuase the wires had been cut from road debris. But the sensor is good. therefore i wanna try to cheaply replace it. If possible.

Andrew

Personally i wouldn't do it, you can get o2 sensors for less than 50 bucks. If it is worth all the trouble to you then give it a shot, but don't blame me when the sensor was sending false readings to your ecm ran it lean and burns a hole in a piston.

I got mine at advance for this exact price. NTK is the factory sensor and fits much better than the bosch due to the o2 sensor being so close to the oil pan.
