Transmission Problem??? Help?

My 02 SVT (71k) has exhibited a couple of "quirks" lately....
1)On Thanksgiving, while cruising at 70mph (cruise control on), I decided to pass a slower vehicle.... using the stalk control, the RPMs climbed dramatically, and did not want to stop.... this has happened 1 other time since...
2) Because this made me paranoid, I then started paying more attention to the tranny performance - It really is responsive in 1st & 2nd, but seems to lag a bit @3k rpms before taking off in 3rd and 4th (almost like the RPMs go up, without a directly proportional acceleration)

Maybe this has always been the case, but like I said.....paranoia has struck!
Thanks!

i'm just shooting in the dark but im guessing your rear main seal... CFM sells a rear-main seal kit with instal tool and instructions i believe... might wanna think about that before u put everything back together... if u bring it somewhere they're gonna hafta take off ur tranny and clutch assebly anyways i believe to get to the seal

Well.... its back together (temporarily) and will be towed to a mechanic tomorrow - he quoted $300 to install a clutch kit, and I will see how much more the rear seal will run....
Thanks, Guys....
