New guy, so probably a stupid question

hey gents,
My names Paul and i recently purchased an 03 svt. Now i am not familiar with these motors at all. The nissan 240sx, sr20, rb's and KA's is my forte lol but family comes first, and the focus is more family friendly than the 240. So that being said my problem is..... there is a plug coming out of my engine that would fit in an electrical socket.... wtf is that, to charge the battery maybe? or did the previous owner leave a power tool in there? lol its probably obvious to you guys but like i said, i know nothing about this car. so i figured id join here and learn. I own a mustang and an 08 f150 and neither of these motors have this, so its not a ford thing... just a focus thing?

PS i used the search tool (electrical socket plug) and got nothing

Thanks

Welcome to FF :)

sounds like you've got the winter package on that SVT of yours. Nice.

That's the plug in for the block heater.

That is the engine block heater. That means that your car came with the cold weather package. That is a rarer option to get on your car. I have it on mine too (2003 EAP Yellow SVT 3 door). Good feature but makes you wonder where your car was from and how long it spent there if it has an engine block heater (aka. Is a northern car and will rust eventually..)

Just another POV on the situation.

If you noticed I have an EAP with no block heater. When my friend owned the car the engine was replaced under warranty. Five years later he sells me the car thinking it still has the heater and I kept asking him "where's the cord?" I put 2+2 together and the dealer replaced the engine with no heater, then I told him and he was kinda pissed. lol.
