Hi

On a different note, you should come to the norcal meet, you're not too far. [thumb

when the SVT is cold, it revs and idles itself at a higher rpm than normal, but yes, it is a normal thing, my SVT does it too

Alot of folks have gone with NGK's or Denso's with some plug wires and it helps to smooth the idle. I haven't switched out the wires but with the DENSO plugs I've noticed a drastic difference in idle performance.

Yes it is normal,

It's a smog thing. Ford want's the engine to warm up quickly there for the fast idle for a few seconds also they can run a leaner mixture at start up and not have the engine die. Pollution is greatest at start up because a rich fuel is need to start any fuel engine.

My car has the same problem and I brought it to two different dealerships about it and they both said that it will idle very high if it is cold. I didn't believe the first dealer telling me that is normal but then the second dealer repeated the same resonsing too.
