Howdy

I'm new to the forum and wanted to say hi to everyone. So, hi! I bought a 2003 red SVTF a few weeks ago to replace my DD. A good friend has an '04 so I've known about and respected the car for a while and finally had an opportunity to buy one for myself. So far I'm very happy with it.

It has 100k+ miles, and was a DD before I got it, so the body isn't in the best shape. Luckily the price of carbon fiber has dropped a lot since I last looked at body panels so mods are almost certain at this point. FF has been the place to come to get ideas, so when I get to doing work I'll make sure to take pics and post. For now all I need to do is replace a fog light so it can pass inspection and I can get tags.

I'm glad there is such an open and informed community surrounding this car, it makes finding accurate information very easy. I'll take some pics of the car as it is now. It will be good to have a benchmark to look back to as it changes.

Welcome! I have the same car as you but a year older. GREAT PLATFORM!
Mine has 130k on it and it runs better than when I bought it at 74k.

Thanks everyone! As it turned out passing inspection was not going to be as easy as fixing the cracked fog light. That only took about 15 minutes to install and align. The only other problem was burned out license plate lights. Easy fix, or so I thought. I opened up the housing and looked at the bulbs. They seemed like they were in fact fine, but all the metal parts for the tabs that hold the light and give it juice were extremely oxidized. I disconnected the wires from the bulb housing and cleaned it up a little and cleaned the contacts on the wires. Then I reassembled everything with new bulbs that I had already purchased, just in case. Making sure that the hot wire didn't touch any metal on the hatch door I put them back in. I hit the switch and nothing. Fuse?

I looked at the manual and found the correct fuse in the fuse box under the dash. 7.5A for the license plate light and it was blown. I got another fuse out and threw it. I turned the lights on, and that is when things happened. Bad things. The ding sound that lets you know your lights are on when you have the key out of the ignition only did half a ding and went out as soon as I moved the switch to the first position. The dashboard illumination went out, though the instruments themselves work. The amber lights up front, grill and side markers, do not come on along with the taillights. All other lights and turn signals work. Its almost as if the lights were in DRL mode and wont come out of it regardless of the position of the headlight switch. Thing is, I don't remember the car having DRLs.

I'm going to search around and see if I can come up with anything or if anyone else has had a similar problem. I would appreciate any advice you have.

Thanks, Tangra.
