Check Engine Light P1383; Oasis TSB#03-6-7

RE: 2003 SVT Focus, 67,000 miles

The check engine light came on recently. I took it to a Ford dealer. This is from their service report:

"Verified the check engine light on, Self Test - P1383 Variable Cam Timing Over Correct, Ran OASIS, found TSB#03-6-7 Checked oil -- Oil was changed a year ago, Oil was thick, changed oil and filter, cleared codes."

The car had been running Mobil1 5W20 for 4000 miles; the dealer replaced it with XO 5W20 Oil Synthetic blend.

I'm a little curious about this. Searching through the threads here, it seems these codes are most often activated by timing belt installations etc. But "thick oil?"

SVT's are to run with 5w30, not 5w20. I would have them change this out!!!
