I heard good things about you but I doubt I can afford it..... I was rollin down a hill to a stop sign and the timing belt broke. got it towed to a garage and got a new belt put on...ford said it woudln't bend the valves going under 2,000rpms...but it did all 4 exhaust valves are bent...one ford shop said that means my pistons are bent to hell then the other said they wouldn't be affected at all... I looked around for a used engine but no luck with the svt engine a new from ford is about 3,500..haven't looked at pistons yet have to find someone who knows more about that engine. will a regular focus engine work or does it have to be a svt engine? if it will work does it require alot of work to get it to work properly?

I found this on ebay. Not sure how far it would be for you to pick it up or how much for shipping. Good luck

Pull the head off and inspect the head and top of the pistons. Might just need new valves. I would suggest buying all new valves, springs, valves seals and have a shop do a valve job. Looking at the about $500 if u do the work ur self.

Driving like a grandma won't save you from a broken timing belt or broken belt tensioner. Even if you're cruisin at 2200rpm, that's 36 revs each second...now if you think you can shut the engine off before the pistons have hit the valves that many times, good luck.

It's best to replace timing belt, idler, and tensioner at 60k, not 100k like the service manual says.

OP, sorry to hear about the damage. You can use a regular Zetec block with an SVT head if you're just trying to get the car running. The rods are weaker than SVT, but if you're just looking at bolt-ons (160whp), then you are fine. Get some estimates on how much to repair the head and go from there.

just hit 72,000 miles and ya change that timing belt at about 60 like he said...55 bucks for the belt and it can save you from a world of problems....a lesson learned too late for me.
