I don't know about cost but I wouldn't think it'd be huge it should make your car more driveable in slow speed situations below 3000 RPM and cure some stalling problems on earlier SVT's. also the RPM point for the variable stuff is set at 5500 RPM this is lower than the original RPM level which should make the car feel better you won't have to rev it as hard for performance to kick in.

If your SVT is still under warranty and you can prove that there is a driveability issue they'll do it for free. i.e. Battery light, surging idle, high idle cold start, hangin rpm's through shifting

If not and if you just want the flash, it's a TSB so it's not a recall meaning that if you're out of warranty it should cost 75.00. If you're going to pay for it, make sure that they print out the sticker per the instructions in the TSB and place it next to your emissions sticker under the hood, or right behind the door.

ON AUGUST 31.I GOT MY SVT BACK FROM ITS REFLASH.PCM-POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE,04 UPDATE MY 03.FOCUS FANATIC MAGAZINE HAD A WONDERFUL DYNO OF THE FLASH FROM STOCK.NOT ONLY DID IT CENTER THE CAR MORE SO THAT ID WAS NOT AS HIGH STUNG,BUT THROTTLE RESPONSE WAS BETTER.NOT AS SLUGGISH OFF THE CLUTCH.RPM WAS 1000 AT IDLE WERE MINE WAS 2500 IN THE COLD. ENGINE DAMAGE FROM THAT HIGH RPM IN THE COLD WAS A MAJOR FACTOR HAD I NOT GOT THEFLASH. IT IS FREE TO ALL SVT OWNERS.IF YOUR DEALERSHIP SAYS NO. CALL SVT AND THEY SHOLD FIND SOMEONE SVT CERTIFIED WHO CAN.THEY MAY EVEN PICK UP YOUR RIDE.IF YOU EXPERIENCE DRIVE ISSUES LIKE BATTERY LAMPS AND SURGES GO GET ONE.YOUR RIDE WILL LOVE YOU FOR IT!
THE DYNO STATES ON A STOCK THE REFLASH LEVELED OUT THE LOW GEARS AND GAVE 7.9 HP AT 5000RPM, NOT BAD.

I'm just letting him know what kind of a hassle he may go through. The glorified secretaries, uhumm Service Managers at the dealers are kind of retarded so you may have to call SVT. As for it being free to any SVT owner that's not true. Read the dealers guidelines on TSB's. Even if the vehicle is under warranty they can still charge you for it.

The cost out of warranty and with a retarded service manager will be 70-85, depending on which dealer you go to.

TSB's are guidance for repair procedures, they in no way shape or form entitle you to free service. Call FORD call SVT, do what you must to get it done, I'm just letting you know what to expect. It may take you more than a couple of dealers before you find one that will do the reflash for ya.
