so can anyone compare the STS to a pro 5.0 mustang shifter? I really like the pro 5.0 one but they make it only for non-svt focuses... Mine arrived yestarday but I can't put it on because the focus has to go to surgery soon

yes..i made sure that everything is properly in place and grease up good. Obviously you don't want the grease dripping out of the stick... LOL..LOL... I think I just have to get use to the tigher shifting.

Yes.. Tighter is not the right word. Crisper would be better. Thanks.

Yeah, it's tigher, crisper, and really what I think is the most change, it's stiffer.

The old shifter felt a lot smoother and it was a lot easier to move. This new one takes a bit more oomph to get a shift.

I'm hoping it'll break in after a while and loosen up.

Exactly... hoping the same thing but I wouldn't really mind if it doesn't... :)

I really don't think it will loosen up much, if at all...
It's harder to shift (or stiffer or tighter) because by shortening the travel for a shift throw, you also decrease the leverage you have to make the shift...
The shifter cables connect lower down on the shifter (higher pivot point), giving them more travel, for the same distance the shift knob travels..
This is also why it feels less sloppy, because of whatever 'play' was in there before, is now 'de-emphasized' because of the leverage...
But dammit, I'm still gonna buy one!!
:)
