I installed my STS over the weekend. Thanks WD40 for the how-to!! Took me about 30 minutes.

I love the shorter throws, but am not crazy about the shorter/unbent stick. I'm 6'0" and I had to recline my seat up so that I'm sitting more erect. Even so, its still a reach to get it into 3rd and I have to lean a little to get it into 5th. I'm going to give bending the shifter backwards a try.

Has anybody tried doing this and have a great idea on how? I'm a little uncomfortable with onebluemcm's suggestion of taking a hammer to it, but I guess that'll have to do if nobody has any better ideas.

^^^I still want to "tweak" mine too.^^^
I think I'll pull out the trusty ole propane torch, heat it up about 1-1/2" from the base,
put a "padded" wrench on the shaft, and bend it that way.
Of course, the above would be done with the shifter/shaft in a vise.

I don't know what it is about my bodily proportions, but I too find it a reach to 3rd and 5th.
Frankly, if I could move the entire shifter assembly rearward about 2", that'd be about perfect.
As adjustable as these cars are with the seats, and the tilt/tele, I still can't get it just right.
At the best I can get it, my helmet doesn't clear the headliner,
so I have to "scrunch" down a bit in the seat.

I installed mine to today with no problems. Great instructions WD40... Ford should have hired you to write them. I would have to say this shifter is a huge improvement. The new height is perfect for me and I love the stiffness. I recommend this to all SVT owners.

Just a quick word of Thanks to WD40. Got the shifter installed in about 40 minutes. Guess I am a little on the slow side, since most people say they did it in 30. I would have take me a heck of a lot longer if all I had were the instruction that came with the Shifter. The step by step direction and photos posted here are fantastic. Thanks for the assist.
