Starting up

Very recently in the morning my car refuses to start with out cranking for what seems like forever. When it finally starts, it sputters like crazy then smooths out after about ten seconds.
This just started. What could it be?
Thanks

SVTs dont like cold starts. If you have a block heater you can use that.

Maybe it's just my Focus then.
I've had a Cobra, a contour and a Lightning and never had a problem until now.

Mine has a similar cold start behavior below 40 - 50 degrees F. Has done it since day one. I have to be mindful to hold key until I am positive it has completely fired or else, if it doesn't start and I have to try again, it will take forever and then it will sputter once it does start - like it's flooded (I believe the plugs get a little fouled). I have had the very latest PCM flash and this did not affect this behavior. I can't wait to see how it handles a Minnesota winter...

I have to hold my key in for a good ~5 seconds before the little thing would start and not threaten to die.

So you can imagine my fear of a Minnesota winter...we get down to -15 (not counting windchill) on occassion. I have experienced -25 once here in six years, but once was enough. It's a good thing my SVT has a block heater and heated seats.

Mine does that too...only not when cold. Sometimes it just doesnt start. Very rare though. I have YRF0 and it still does it. I just have to stop cranking and let the IGN be one for about 10 secs and then it fires right up.

Re: Heated seats I LOVE EM! I use em year round...to heat my butt and for the therapy it provides...

Hey, regarding the heated seats:
Is there a way to make them adjustable instead of just on/off? I used to have a VW Jetta that had a five-position dial for temperature adjustment. That's kinda what I want. My ass can only handle the heat for about 5 minutes - even when it's really cold!

Phewww I thought I was the only one who had this problem. Looks like I will be using the block heater this winter...a first ever for me.

The heated side mirrors, I guess they are always on?
