IAT Mod

Hello Everyone! I am new to this site and I am the very proud owner of a new 2004 SVT Focus!! I LOVE my new car and I'm sure I will have it a good long time. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone has any info on modifications to the Air Temp Sensor to gain a little power. I know it is done with a resistor, however, I am not sure of the resistance needed to gain the best results. I would appreciate any help and info or ideas for other mods to gain more power!! hehehe

Welcome to FF.

It's not worth doing. It fools the EEC that the air outside is cooler and supplies more fuel.
There's been a debate on 'exactly' what it does but never the less, after about 10 minutes, your EEC will figure out whats going on and adjust itself back to normal.

Anyway, there's a new SCT flasher you can buy that will most likely yeild some real gains for the SVTF.
Click on the SCT link in my sig for more info.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. What about a cold air induction kit? Any suggestions? I know there are a few to choose from, however, I want to know which one is really worth getting.

not sure about the mod that you are asking about, but if you search around in the "SVT performance section", you should come up with plenty of ways to make your SVT faster!!

Hey Chris....what intake do you use?

I think that could help him start modifying.

There is also a supercharger available for about $3000 retail. I may consider that later on! A blown SVTF would be very intruiging to say the least!!

Indeed it would. A really helpful thing on the board is the search function (not trying to be an *******, really serious). Some people on the board really hate helping new enthusiast out, some people are cool about it...but usually its just better to use the search function first. Welcome to the board, and have fun and be safe with your car.

it is not that people hate helping new enthusiats out, it is that they get tired of answering some of the same basic questions over and over. It's kind like showing up to a converation 5 minute too late and asking that everyone stop and get them back up to speed.

I am not trying to be a dick, I am just saying use the search function. Most of the basic questions regarding intakes, exhaust, etc have been answered before. Search first and ask questions if you still need help.

BTW - Other posts are correct. The PCM has a fuel trim learned calibration. If you put the IAT mod in it will try to enrich the fuel at first, but the HEGO sensor will read the mixture as being rich and adjust the fuel tables so that it goes back to stoich. Waste of money.
