Question Future Turbo

I just got a 2002 SVT and eventually I want to put a turbo on. Probably Vortech. Not sure yet. Anyways, I want to know if there are any mods that if i put on now, i'd have to replace or upgrade later on down the road when i add the turbo? I know that a 3" exhaust is better for forced induction...but if i have a 3" without forced induction, will it hurt performance in any major way? Thanks

Vortech is a supercharger system and not a turbo system. If you want to turbo your SVT I would try to talk with Tom. I heard he is the guy to deal with turbos. His website is www.focus-power.com
Good luck with the turbo though

would you want 3"..i thought that a 2, 7/8 or somthig was good, so you dont loose back pressure?

Yeah i know about back pressure so I'm wondering on an SVT how big is too big. The more power i got the bigger the exhaust i'd need. But is there anyone out there who can tell me what mods i should not put on right now because i'd have to switch them out when i got the turbo? Or maybe there aren't any. For instance, I might have to change headers?

Correct if you go turbo youre going to replace the whole exhaust manifold anyways. And from what I have been told about the svt is that putting a new header on is almost pointless anyways because the stock svt header is a good free flowing set up.

If you set yourself up for a turbo now, your gonna lose some low end tq and hp, for a turbo you should at least have 3 or 3 and a 1/2 inch exhaust. if your gonna get a turbo soon i would set that up and just live with the losses until you get your turbo, if its gonna be awhile i would just leave teh exhaust how it is, it comes stock with 2 and a half in exhaust which keeps enough backpressure in the system, you will be able to notice the difference if you change your exhaust without getting the charger. good luck with the turbo.
