it might work for when your dual length runners shifted on an SVT engine. But it wouldn't work on your cams.

actually, you can have the cam timing tuned. the factory tune is for emissions purposes, but you can get the PCM reflashed with more aggressive cam timing. just be ready to spend a LOT of time on a dyno because different settings work better in different parts of the rpm range, and you also want to get a part throttle setting to increase gas mileage.

I hate to be an ass but you should all stop talking right now....A Focus does not have VTEC. The SVT has variable length runners but that's as close as it gets.

You can change cam timing with gears and you can change ignition timing with a chip. How the hell would you change the cam timing by flashing the ECU???

Close this one down before people ar looking for a Flux Compacitor

hey rally, did you ever notice the little bulge at the intake cam gear on the SVT motor? there's a little solenoid in there, know what it does? it's a Variable Cam Timing solenoid and assembly. ever wonder why the SVTF has all that torque down low? yes, the manifold does have a little something to do with it, but the cam timing allows for increased torque output as well. most camshafts create a "powerband" that lasts for about 4k rpms, ie 3000-7000. how is it that the SVTF has over 80% of it's peak torque by 2200? oh, it's all in the manifold, right? WRONG. the long runners would have to be about 6 inches longer to achieve those kinds of results without Variable Cam Timing. the factory tuning on it is very mild, EPA regulations require engines without EGR systems to have a form of variable cam timing. does your SVTF have EGR? yes? really? then it's not a SVT!!! now, I was under the impression that this was an SVT forum, and while I don't mind regular Zetec drivers posting in here, I do ask that they familiarize themselves with the configuration of the SVT motor - a Zetec derivative that was branded the Duratec ST. if you're not sure about something...ASK! there's no such thing as a stupid question, there are only stupid people. the stupid people, however, are the ones who ask no questions at all

*Puts on flame suit*

So SVT's don't have EGR (I wouldn't know what to look for)? If they don't I'm glad, cause it made my intake manifold quite dirty on my F-150!
