Changing lubricants to a different brand and wheels and tires is about all you can do along with a K&N drop in. The terms of the warranty don't state you can't put CAI or F/I of any kind. But what SVT told me today was that anything that could be proven to have caused a problem with your vehicle will void the warranty. It's up to the interpretation of the dealer. You can call SVT but they wont recommend anything or tell you what's safe as far as aftermarket.

I think someone on this forum said they took their car in with CAI mounted for warranty work I'm not for certain though. Search the threads and you should find some more info. I wouldn't recommend taking your car to the dealer with aftermarket crap bolted up. Keep the OE and remount before service. That's what I do with my Silverado.

I know with my dealership, you can get exhaust, cat back of course. Anything in front of the catylitic converter will void warranty, but you can do any thing cosmetic, not lowering, like short shifter, body kit, wheels etc.

This has been discussed to death...the dealership would have to prove a direct A to B correlation from the aftermarket part to the failed component to deny a warranty claim (this depends on Ford...NOT the dealership!)

You can do a hell of a lot of mods to your car without worrying about warranty. Example, you put in a set of lowering springs and your dampers wear out, you loose warranty on the dampers but not the whole car like some people think. Putting on a shorty antenna does not void the warranty on the engine.

Also totally depends on what dealership you go to. I know guys off here as well as another website (one inparticular) that has a JRSC installed as well as other basic bolt on mods and he still gets warranty work on his car. Putting on an intake voids the warranty of the stock intake sitting on your garage floor. Putting on a catback exhaust system voids the warranty on the stock one sitting in the dumpster in the alley. Make sense?

It's a great idea still to have a good relationship with your dealer if you're gonna mod. If you're good enough 'pals' then Ford will never know about them and the dealer will just do the work regardless... depending of course on the nature of the claim. Hell, my dealer calls me just to find out how the lapping day was!

This has been discussed to death, and IMO too many people think it is too easy to get a warranty claim with aftermarket parts. You really need to think about what you're are doing. There are perfectly valid causal explanations for the simplest failures that can be blamed on aftermarket parts. And Ford is trying to decrease warranty payout to dealerships because it is one of their largest expenses. So, you need to determine whether or not aftermarket mods are worth fighting with the dealership and local Ford people for up to several months to get service completed.

My recommendation is to shake all of the bugs out of your car for the first 36 months/36,000 miles. And there is no way you will get warranty work done with something like a turbo.

Think about this. Let's say you change your suspension. The dealership could easily argue that the broken component in your car is attributable to the change in the ride you introduced by putting on the aftermarket springs, etc. And it would fly in court.

Mod at your own risk.

the dealer has to prove that the malfunction was directly linked to a mod the customer did to their vehicle,,,this is stated in the magnusson act i think,,,,its a law,,,,if they cant positively prove it they have to honor warranty,,,so a dealer telling u that ur piston blew through ur engine because of i/e,,would be total bull......but any kind of major work like head work and f/i,,,then now ur on ur own

It's all subjective. Discuss it all you want, the heart of the matter to me is what is your relationship like with YOUR dealer? Enter at your own risk beyond that point.
